What the Bible teaches about prayer

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.  You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”   John 14:13-14

My house will be a house of prayer - Luke 19:46

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. - Jeremiah 33:3

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. - Colossians 4:2

Is any of you in trouble?  He should pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let him sing songs of praise.  Is any one of you sick?  He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.  If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. - James 5:13-16

Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. - Psalm 143:1
